I must admit that living in North Carolina I sometimes miss the busy streets of a bigger city. But then again there are only very few places I’ve been where the people are as friendly as they are here. They clearly looooove their BBQ, are passionate about their beautiful State (for good reasons!), and have a pretty strong entrepreneurial spirit.

This passion for entrepreneurship was the main reason for me to launch Custom Choice Cereal in the Triangle instead of one of the bigger cities. At the same time, there are many great ideas coming to life here, and the entrepreneurial community is really well interconnected. Once you’re fellow entrepreneurs even the rivalries between Duke, UNC, and NC State fade to the background

Here is proof: Jon Reifschneider, founder of 31Projects, went to Duke, while I graduated from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. His idea is to let companies and students get to know each other risk-free through short-term projects and competitions. Students get real-life experience while the companies can crowdsource the best talent – a classic “win-win” situation.

Jon’s venture was covered on ere.net with Custom Choice Cereal mentioned as an example of how it will work. I am pretty excited to have Custom Choice Cereal be a part of the launch next week with a competition for a viral marketing plan.

Wohoo, I am super excited! Custom Choice Cereal is featured in the GIG Quarterly, the magazine of the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America!

The GIG and their website is extremely helpful and informative, so we include it in on our page of useful links for anyone new to the gluten-free diet. Besides the fact that our young company is featured in such a highly regarded publication, I am particularly happy that they mentioned the various measures we take to ensure the safety of your customized cereal: we source only naturally gluten-free ingredients, test each ingredient for potential gluten contamination, and hand-mix each cerealization in a dedicated gluten-free facility.

It’s great to see my mugshot in the magazine… What I really hope for though is that this article will help more people realize that they can enjoy a tasty gluten-free cereal by simply creating their own. Having to follow a gluten-free diet is tough enough, let’s try to make it an enjoyable experience!

Wooho! Custom Choice Cereal is featured in the current edition of Delight gluten free Magazine! We are super excited that the message gets out there: living a gluten-free lifestyle is perfectly possible without giving up on taste and variety.

To illustrate the point, here is a story that we were told by a customer who has a celiac son. This child was always jealous of his older brother eating cereal. And kids are kids, so the older brother used to tease the little one and rub it in whenever he could! This frequently resulted in, well, let’s say “tense”, breakfasts for this particular family.

If you read this far you know what’s coming… Thanks to Custom Choice Cereal, the little brother came out as the winner and is finally enjoying his Gluten Freedom at least as much as he enjoys his brother’s envy! As the youngest of four brothers I can certainly sympathize with that

Custom Choice Cereal on Age of Autism

Age of Autism is a great website offering information, daily news, and updates to the autism community. Many families with an autistic family member have been able to achieve improvements in behavior and digestion on a gluten-free casein-free diet. Most notably, the common ‘leaky gut’ symptom seems to be mitigated by this diet.

We at Custom Choice Cereal are therefore excited to support the website by giving a lucky winner the chance to create their personal gluten-free cereal mixes! In doing so we fulfill part of our mission to bring taste and variety to the gluten-free cereal bowl for some people who really deserve our attention. As if the gluten-free diet wasn’t tough enough the casein-free aspect certainly does not make it any easier. Fortunately our custom gluten-free cereals also taste great with almond milk and other substitutes!

Gluten-free cereal on PNWLocalNews

All the way across the country from North Carolina, Pacific Northwest Local News (PWNLocalNews) combines the coverage of more than 30 local community newspapers on a single website. We at Custom Choice Cereal think that this is a pretty cool concept and are therefore thrilled about the article about our gluten-free cerealizations on this website.

The author of the article, Lisa, frequently writes about gluten-free foods and celebrates the meals that people with celiac disease, an intolerance to gluten, or other food sensitivities can eat. Lisa’s motivation is thus pretty closely aligned with the Custom Choice Cereal mission, and that is just one more reason we are so excited about this review. She sampled her personal gluten-free cereal blend and writes

“If you are like me, a good Gluten Free cereal is hard to find. I like my cereal to have good nutritional value, good protein, fiber, low fat and above all flavor. No worries, I recently found a cereal that allows you to pick and choose the ingredients to create your own special mix. But we are of course also very happy to be covered in the news and are delighted to say that Richmond gluten-free food Examiner Marcus Miller published an article on Custom Choice Cereal. He is wrote that we enable

Today we are excited to see Custom Choice Cereal featured in The Sun Herald, the newspaper for Gulfport, MS. Andrea, the author of the article, checked out our website and wrote:

Groundhog Day & DIY gluten-free cereal

Due to the unusual weather in this part of North Carolina, we were able to leave our gluten-free footprint in the snow this past weekend. And on today’s Groundhog Day, Phil says that there will be “six more weeks of winter”…

As much as this is breaking news across the country, Custom Choice Cereal is actually slightly more excited about an article on our DIY Gluten-Free Cereal Company that was published today. Rose Garland writes in her article that she is a “convert to this company” because she “can make and eat my own cereal again” and because of “Hajo’s exuberance” for his business.

After having written about celiac disease and the gluten-free diet, Custom Choice Cereal is excited to see that Jessica Sipperley from the Jackson Citizen Patriot dedicated an entire article to our customizable gluten-free cereal.

Jessica says that we created Custom Choice Cereal with “the goal of giving those on gluten-free diets a chance to have complete control over their cereal”. She continues describing out motivation for the company by writing that “many people may not care for every ingredient included in a mass-produced gluten-free version of a cereal. Maybe you don’t like almonds. Maybe you could do without raisins. And if you want to add your own topping to a cereal, there may be a danger that food is not gluten-free.”
